The Culpeper Police Department is a growing department in a growing town.  There has been a dramatic increase in the residential population along with more people coming to Culpeper to work and visit each day. With the increased population, the Culpeper Police Department has seen an increased need for law enforcement to continue making our community a safe place to live, work, and visit.

Our officers are well-trained and highly motivated men and women. We offer many exciting opportunities for professional individuals who desire to make a difference in the community. The Culpeper Police Department values diversity, experience, and education in our officers. We set high standards for ourselves and have maintained an international CALEA accreditation since 2005.

Our Department believes in and supports diversity and Fair and Impartial Policing. We continually strive to build strong partnerships with community members and foster an environment of cooperation and respect.

Specialties

  • Accident Reconstruction Team

    The Accident Reconstruction Team (ART) investigates motor vehicle crashes that result in fatalities, severe injuries, or major property damage

  • Bicycle Patrol

    Bicycle Patrol Officers are deployed for both patrol duties and during high-volume crowded special events to provide a fast, mobile response

  • Community Policing

    This division specializes in community outreach and education. They also oversee the Neighborhood Watch Program, Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) program, Law Enforcement Explorer program, school patrol, and all safety programs.

  • Criminal Investigations

    General Investigations detectives investigate all major crimes against persons and property.

  • Drone Team

    Drones are used for criminal investigations, support operations, missing and runaway persons, and to assist fellow first responder and public service agencies

  • K-9 Unit

    The K-9 Unit provides line support to members of the Department with highly mobile, specially trained police service K-9's. Our handlers and dogs are certified through the American Society of Canine Trainers.

  • Motorcycles

    Motor officers specializes in traffic enforcement and vehicle crash investigations, and assist with community events and parades.

  • Street Crimes

    The Street Crimes division focuses on narcotic investigations, prostitution, wanted persons, and assisting the Blue Ridge Task Force, a regional narcotics task force.

  • SWAT

    Culpeper PD is a member of the Joint Culpeper County SWAT team
